The number of bags a bin will hold depends on the size of the bag being used and the contents i.e. paper will compact whereas glass bottles will take up more space. Generally we advise larger containers for light bulky recyclate such as paper and plastic bottles and smaller containers for heavier items such as glass and food waste.
It is also important to remember the maximum safe lifting weight of the container.
As a rough idea the average bag holding general waste we would estimate at 80 litres
